There's so much to share, so let's get started!
Final Cut Studio 3
We're excited about the new features within Final Cut Studio 3. Click here for a comprehensive one-page overview of all the new features. We know that many of you have ordered it or are planning to order it very soon. For most of you, all you’ll have to purchase is the upgrade from any previous version of Final Cut Pro or Final Cut Studio for $299.
We are still testing this software in our lab, but for those of you who want to be on the bleeding edge, we are offering two plans:
• For our clients who have proactive service agreements, hold on to your new software until we come for our next maintenance visit. We will upgrade your software, plus all applicable capture device drivers, and will test all systems to make sure the new software is functioning perfectly, as part of your visit.
• For those who can’t wait or who don’t have one of our proactive service agreements, we are offering a 25% discount on our reactive service rates for the installation of Final Cut Studio 3. This is on top of any current discounts you may receive as a proactive service agreement customer. We are now booking reactive visits to install software. We look forward to hearing from you!
Final Cut Server 1.5
Fresh on the heels of the new Final Cut Studio is a revved version of Final Cut Server, which provides many fixes and improvements. Read about of all of the changes in Final Cut Server 1.5 in this PDF. Here too, the upgrade price is $299.
New ProRes Variants
Many of the new workflows in both Final Cut Studio and Final Cut Server revolve around the new variants of the ProRes codec. Apple has a good overview PDF on the changes in ProRes which you can read here. We have been aware and have been working with these codecs for some time now, and we're happy to answer any questions you may have about them.
Final Cut Server Automations
We are very proud of the customized automations that we have accomplished for our clients, and we wanted to make sure that all of you knew about them. Meta Media has developed custom automations that will shave hours of processing time from your workflows, and free your creatives up to do more of what they do best: create! Here are just a few:
• Brightcove - We have delivered this valuable automation to several clients who use this video hosting service. The automation manufactures, packages and uploads all files necessary for Brightcove Title creation automatically, with a simple click of a button from the asset in Final Cut Server.
• Podcasting - This automation delivers encoded video and audio files to your hosting server, and automatically updates and posts your RSS files to Apple, all straight from the asset window in Final Cut Server! Many of our clients have asked for it, and we have delivered.
• Archive - Allowing end users and metadata subscriptions to activate the archive of assets with no administrator intervention was our goal, and we have it for you. No matter who's archive system you own or are planning to purchase, we have the solution to bolt it onto Final Cut Server.
In our present economy, it's more important than ever to maximize the efficiency and quality of your workflows. Contact us today to find out how we can help you accomplish this.
Have a great summer!
Cheers,
The Meta Media™ Team
I am doing final post on a feature film using FCP.
Our distributor is asking for 4 tracks: music and effects in stereo and dialogue in stereo. They are going to use this to create their distribution masters.
We are on a very tight budget and hoping to save on the hundreds of dollars they charge every time they make a dupe. So they suggested a QuickTime in Pro-Res with 4 tracks.
Can that be done? I can't figure out any way to do it other than surround sound.
