A small but dedicated crowd attended the Xsan Presentation given by Meta Media at the Apple Store on Michigan Avenue. Several local post facilities were represented. As a part of the presentation, Matt Geller's most recent book releases were given away. A detailed comparison of Avid's Unity Media Network and Xsan were presented. Steve Ordower of Rhythm and Light posed some interesting questions regarding the available RAID levels used in Unity and Xsan - Matt pointed out the advantages of the use of RAID 5 in an Xsan system, but also noted the flexibility of the Unity system to change RAID levels (between 0 and 1) whenever necessary. The presentation was well received by the group, several people commented that their questions were answered.
